At the beginning of June this year, we ran our first Scarborough Photography Holiday which was a huge success!
Seven keen photographers joined us for this fun-filled 3-day photography trip in Yorkshire as we explored the moors, photographed the coastal towns and enjoyed unique experiences. Capturing Scarborough: Photography Trips in Yorkshire
After an afternoon arrival at the Bike & Boot hotel in Scarborough, we embarked on a walking tour with cameras in hand. Our guide led us through Scarborough’s historic streets, highlighting landmarks like Scarborough Castle, the charming harbour and picturesque South Bay Beach. In the evening, we captured the bright lights of the seafront (including the famous Grand Hotel Scarborough) which was the perfect opportunity to get our tripods out and experiment with slow shutter speeds. This marked the beginning of our exciting photography holidays UK.
Over the next two days, we explored landscapes and coastlines. One day took us to the North Yorkshire Moors where we photographed the rugged heathland and steam trains trundling through the valleys and enjoyed a picturesque picnic. We also visited the beautiful Grosmont Station where we learnt about the steam trains and the train sheds – a perfect afternoon out!
The next day focused on the seaside where we experimented with neutral density filters at Filey Brigg’s rugged coastline, visited local fishermen to see their huge lobsters and captured waves crashing against Scarborough’s shoreline. Our Photography holidays UK left clients with unforgettable memories and a portfolio filled with stunning images.
Throughout the trip, we wined and dined at many iconic and popular restaurants around Scarborough like the Golden Grid, the Magpie Cafe and Lookout on the Pier. The magical trip ended with an early morning start to watch the sunrise over the harbour. We even saw the famous Scarborough dolphins jumping around in the water! Photography Holidays UK – Mastering photography in a beautiful location
Each morning started with a workshop at the hotel which focused on getting comfortable with camera settings and mechanics, and learning the art of great photographic composition. Every afternoon, we explored the local attractions and countryside and got practical experience using those camera settings to snap amazing photos! The camera specifics we covered throughout our trip included getting to grips with the exposure triangle, learning camera functions, exploring composition and framing, and light – where to find it, create it and use it. With only seven photographers on this trip, Lillie ensures you get plenty of personalised instruction throughout the holiday. Lillie understands that every photographer sees things through the lens differently.
