Photographing families and children together

surrey family photographer

I love capturing you all enjoying the moment, whether it’s walking through the surf on the beach or admiring the beautiful colours of the fall leaves. Taking the photograph that you and your children will remember year after year is an important job and I have been working as a photographer for the past fourteen years.

I remember the click and sound of the film advancing through my father’s camera from a young age, and was delighted when my father finally allowed me to take two photographs on his camera when I was ten. “Two!” I thought, not just one but two!! And those two photographs were all it took! Through my teenage years I photographed for my high school newspaper and stayed late in the darkroom to develop the negatives from the football matches. I went on to follow my passion and pursued a degree in photography. I achieved a B.A. Hons in photojournalism from Ithaca College, in Ithaca, New York.

I then embarked upon my career and photographed initially in the U.S. and then throughout Europe and parts of Eastern Europe for the following publications: Bradt Guides, Vogue, GQ, Country Life and The Sunday Times. I met my husband in Italy and we later settled in London. We now have two children and live in the Surrey Hills.

My parents commissioned a photographer when I was eight to photograph us together, and I still remember the photograph. It’s wonderful to watch your family grow, and for your children to look back at fond memories of growing up. I would love to photograph your family together and create a fond memory for you all to look back on.

It would be great to hear more about the photographs you are looking for, feel free to call me to discuss your ideas or dash down couple ideas on an email. Thanks!

Testimonials

  • "We chose Lillie as our photographer as we wanted some photographs that were natural, taken out in the open, and a session that wouldn’t stress the family out too much. We were not disappointed! She made us feel totally at ease and had the patience of a Saint with the kids (they loved the Haribo on the camera!), as a result the photographs we have are just what we wanted – a memory of a morning of fun. The service didn’t stop after the photographs are taken either – Lillie was fantastic helping us chose which photographs to frame and suggesting what went well with what. Thank you."

  • "It was such fun to meet you and have my lesson today. I loved the no-nonsense and ‘let’s make it easy’ approach. So many professional photographers almost seem to rejoice in mystifying their art and while I’m sure there are loads of things that are very much beyond a jobbing photographer like me, it was just great to have so many of the basic things explained in clear terms and with patience and lots of memory aids. Just to sort out what buttons do what was fantastic. You are a very good teacher."

  • "We bought our camera when our children were born so we could document their lives – but have only ever used the camera on its automatic setting. The camera course has given me the confidence to explore my camera and experiment with it on different settings. The take home information leaflet has also been brilliant to refer back to with lots of short cuts and top tips. I can’t wait to get out and use my camera more. It was a really fun evening, in a totally unthreatening atmosphere and I learnt lots!"

  • "Photography course with Lillie on Monday night was brilliant. Best start for a beginner with a digital camera. Who’d have thought it’s better on the manual setting!!!?"
