I am super excited to announce my Italian photography holiday. The Italian photography course will be based in Cortona, Tuscany. Five days spent in the most delightful surroundings, taking beautiful photographs that you will want to submit to travel magazines!
I spent 8 months studying for part of my photojournalism degree in Cortona, and returned there after graduation and stayed for 2 years. The area is steeped in history and art, which will be reflected in every photograph you take. I loved walking along the Etruscan walls at sunset, seeing Severini’s cubist mosaic on my morning jog and absorbing the breathtaking view of the Tuscan countryside. All of this inspired me to go out and take photographs capturing the history and beauty that surrounded me.
There are few ‘strada bianci’ (country tracks) unknown to me in the Cypress-lined hills between Perugia and Cortona. I’ll take you down them and your portfolio will be brimming with hidden landscapes, villages and local contadini! You will photograph Castello di Pierle as the sun sets, capture silhouettes along via Roma and work with depth of field whilst photographing the iconic cypress trees that line the Italian vistas.
Have you seen or read “Under the Tuscan sun” by Frances Mayes? The story is set in Cortona, and the film is too! Have a look at the link for more visuals: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/expat/expatlife/8188601/20-years-of-life-under-the-Tuscan-sun.html
We will make a day trip to the town of Perugia, where we will experience and photograph this elegant ancient hill top town and maybe take an afternoon prosecco at the Grand Bar Sandri. Make sure to look up whilst having your drink, the frescoes on the ceiling are amazing!
And the food… I just love the simplicity and freshness of the local Tuscan fare; sweet tomatoes picked straight off the vines, hams cured at the local farms, olives picked and pressed from the surrounding groves and the vineyards that produce very memorable vintages.
This is a holiday where you will enjoy the beautiful surroundings, and you will also learn how to take great photographs!
The trip is booking up fast and it would be lovely to have you join. For more information please visit my Italian course page: https://lillianspibeyphotography.com/photography-course-italy/ and feel free to contact me with further questions.
Ciao!
